Mike is set to address Tyson’s impressive career, including winning 50 out of 58 fights, 44 by knockout as well as his marriage to Robin Givens and his time in prison for welterweight division boxing weight the rape of 18-year-old Desiree Washington.

“Yes, slightly,” he says quietly. “But that sport allows me to get too dark when I’m in it. I needed to have my dark side to really eclipse anything in that sport, so in order to do that, I had to think of myself better than I actually and truly was, and in doing that I offended a lot of people.”

Tyson’s face tattoo quickly proved iconic and has become strongly associated with him. Its Māori influence has been controversial, spurring claims of cultural appropriation. In 2011, Whitmill filed a copyright suit against Warner Bros. for using the design on the character Stu Price in The Hangover Part II. Warner Bros. responded with a number of defenses, including that tattoos are not copyrightable; supporting them, scholar David Nimmer argued that it violated the Thirteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution—which prohibits slavery—to give Whitmill copyright over part of Tyson’s body. After initial comments by Judge Catherine D. Perry denying an injunction but affirming that tattoos are copyrightable, Whitmill and Warner Bros. settled for undisclosed terms, without disruption to the release of the film.

“They don’t want to die for the people,” he continues. “They want to fight and go to the after party too. They don’t want to die for the people where they may have to stay in the hospital while everybody else is in the after party.”

Wilder shoots a right hand. Zhang a left to the body. Zhang using that size early to push Wilder around. Both men taking their time. This is all about one, single shot from either side. Zhang shoots a left to the body as Wilder retreats out. Wilder fires a right that misses.

“The reason I say that is because those massive, global, pay-per-view fights have a special pressure about them, the eyes of the world are upon you and against his opponent, a murderous puncher, one of the most feared in history, you can’t really describe what that pressure is like until you’ve been in that situation.

In November 2013, Tyson stated “the more I look into the churches and mosques for god, the more I start seeing the devil”. But, just a month later, in a December 2013 interview with Fox News, Tyson said that he is very grateful to be a Muslim and that he needs Allah in his life. In the same interview Tyson talked about his progress with sobriety and how being in the company of good people has made him want to be a better and more humble person.

On May 24, 2011, Judge Catherine D. Perry denied Whitmill’s request to enjoin the film’s release, citing a potential $100 million in damages to Warner Bros. and disruption to related businesses. However, she found that Whitmill had “a strong likelihood of success” on his copyright claim and characterized most of Warner Bros.’ arguments as “just silly”, saying:

The suit isn’t frivolous, however, legal experts say. They contend the case could offer the first rulings on tricky questions about how far the rights of the copyright holder extend in creations that are, after all, on someone else’s body. They are questions likely to crop up more often as it becomes more common for actors or athletes to have tattoos and as tattoo designs become more sophisticated.

The feat was repeated by Zhang, who big-banged Joyce in the third round of their rematch last September at OVO Arena Wembley. It led him back to Saudi Arabia, where he suffered his lone other career defeat in an August 2022 decision to Filip Hrgovic in Jeddah. The IBF title eliminator saw Hrgovic advance into title contention.

Zhang is coming off the best win of his career after having stopped Deontay Wilder in the fifth round in his last fight. The victory was vital as the 41-year-old bounced back from his loss to Joseph Parker. The defeat to Parker meant he was no longer the WBO Interim Heavyweight Champion, which made him mandatory for the Undisputed Heavyweight Champion Oleksandr Usyk. But with the Wilder win under his belts, Zhang could face several heavyweights.

Joseph Parker has just been interviewed by DAZN and he has confirmed his next fight will be a rematch with Zhilei Zhang. He says: “Zhang is a tough man. But Andy Lee told me to keep my composure and to follow the plan. I am very happy and I can’t wait to go back home to celebrate.

Parker previously held the WBO heavyweight title from December 2016 through his April 2018 unification defeat to then-unbeaten Anthony Joshua (27-3, 24 knockouts), No.2 at HVY, who faced Francis Ngannou in Fridays main event.

Anticipation is high for Tyson’s return to life under the bright lights, and without the curtain even going up for the first show, which was created after he and his wife Kiki (the show’s co-writer) saw Chazz Palminteri’s A Bronx Tale show, there is already high-demand for him to take his act on the road.
